When I cruise, I like to get an authentic slice of local culture. For example, we went on a local culinary tour in Falmouth in July 2019. However, some folks also cruise for relaxation and the comfort of something familiar. If that is you, the Falmouth cruise pier is a great way to spend the day. It is clean, safe, and presents a ton of options for dining and shopping. There is even a local crafts market and a taste of the local cuisine.

For me, one of the highlights of every cruise is the food. It doesn’t matter whether it is the main dining room, the specialty restaurants, or the buffet. I like good food in a nice setting. Royal Caribbean lobster night is a great example. While it has changed a little since our last cruise, the important things are there. You can have all the lobster tails you want, and there are several other excellent choices on the menu.

When we sailed this Summer, we had a big group. We wanted to eat dinner together, but not many restaurants are equipped to seat 14 people. Happily, we stumbled on Stuttgarden Tavern. It is located near the cruise pier, and they have cavernous seating both indoors and out. The grub at this Galveston restaurant isn’t fancy. It is, however, very good.

I love to book cruises far in advance. That lets me reserve specialty cabins, and often the rates are lower. I also love to spend many months looking forward to each cruise. We reported earlier that the Royal Caribbean Summer 2021 schedule would be coming out November 4. It is still coming soon, but there is a slight delay.

I always recommend getting to Galveston at least one day in advance of your cruise. You don’t want to risk a late flight on departure, and Galveston is an excellent vacation destination on its own. If you get there early, however, you will want something to do. We walked to the Galveston Pleasure Pier from our hotel. There probably isn’t enough there to pass an entire day. However, it is a great way to pass a beautiful Summer evening.
